Salary: $27.37 - $41.06 Hourly

Job Summary

Performs a variety of accounting tasks, involving the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and procurement; verifies proper accounting codes are used. Compiles reports, runs operating statements, analyzes report data, and assists managers with understanding financial data related to their program areas. The employee is responsible for a number data quality of financial information and discrete handling of confidential information. Employee assists with implementing, testing, and upgrading features and functionality in the Infor accounting software.

Job Description

Processes invoices, procurement cards, and cash receipts in a multi-division, multi-department organization that uses activity-based accounting; finds and corrects any coding errors. 



Creates accounts receivable invoices and statements derived from an analysis of various complex, financial transactions involving various funds; adheres to strict applicable state, local, and federal statutes regarding funding requests. 



Verifies cash deposits for the county and creates monthly journal entries as needed. 



Runs financial statements and regularly reviews them with managers. 



Expertise in payable process, including but not limited to PO matching, interface management, transaction upload and entry, vendor management for the county. 



Collects, compiles, analyzes, and distributes financial data as needed. 



Reviews financial data, creates reports or tools to assist others with interpretation and analysis of the data. Reviews transactions and accounts for accuracy and reconciles and identifies correcting entries. 



Makes collections calls or sends letters regarding collection of fees/charges. 



Assists others (e.g., auditors) with procedural questions, documentation, and physical inventory. 



Assists with budget preparation, including gathering supporting documentation for budget meetings and entering data into the ERP's budget module. 



Assists with managing the Revenue Recapture process as assigned.



Creates Infor and other program queries. 



Performs a variety of AP, AR, procurement, inventory control, system maintenance, and data entry oriented activities for the creation and upkeep of financial and program data. 



Works the hours and/or shifts assigned and begins and ends work on time. 



Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications
Requires equivalency of an Associate's Degree in Accounting and one year of related experience. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial systems desirable. A reliable form of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities is required.

Supervisory Controls
This employee is under the general guidance and direction of the Chief Information Officer. Employee communicates with all levels of management and staff within the county and provides input to the strategic direction of the IT department, expenditures, and the quality level of customer service. Most day-to-day work will be done independently and will require considerable understanding of complex issues. Decisions made will have a significant impact on project scope, staffing levels, project completion dates, and cost of operations.



This employee oversees the work of 8 to 12 employees as well as temporary consultants for project resource planning, delivery, personnel selection, evaluation of skillset and work performance, training, professional development, coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary input. Performs supervisory duties as defined in MN Statute 179A.03 Subd. 17.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Typical characteristics of the regular, ongoing work environment of this position requires inside work, typically in an office setting. Evening and weekend hours may be required based on project, services, and systems demands. The position is multi-task oriented and includes periods of stress when balancing the needs/demands of service.



Physical activities include sedentary to light work: Reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, walking, pushing, lifting, pulling, carrying, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Lifts and/or navigates up to 35 pounds on a routine basis in handling equipment necessary for performing the essential duties of the job. Employee alternates between sitting for extended periods and moving around throughout the day in providing assistance to others. Some work related travel is required to navigate between county buildings and to attend meetings and training classes.
